Dear Boys is an anime about five high school basketball players and how they struggle to become the best basketball team in the country. The story started when Kazuhiko Aikawa transferred from Tendoji to Mizuho High School where he reignited the desire and passion of the four remaining basketball team members to play the game again after being suspended for a year.

The quality of the anime is not very good. Most of the animations look awkward and the dynamics of the game is out of sync. For example, the animation of Aikawa’s jumpshot looks ridiculous and the trajectory and angle of the ball as it travels to the hoop looks way off the mark yet it still goes in.
