Gilas Pilipinas Defeated Senegal

Gilas Pilipinas started the game strong and lead the game in the first half. In the second half, Senegal came back fighting and even lead the game as high as 6 points. The rest of the second half was a hard fought battle between the two teams.

At the end of the game, Gilas Pilipinas edged Senegal by only 2 points but it was more than enough to win the game. Congratulations to Gilas Pilipinas for getting its first win in FIBA World Cup 2014.

Gilas Pilipinas was lead by Jimmy Alapag with 18 points, Andray Blatche with 18 points and June Mar Fajardo with 15 points. June Mar Fajardo also got 9 rebounds, 2, assists and 2 steals which gave him an efficiency rating of +20.

The bench of Gilas Pilipinas also performed very well except maybe for Gary David who was only given one minute of play time. O_o

Even with the win against Senegal, Gilas Pilipinas is already out of the competition. It needed to win at least two games to advanced but it failed to do so when it lost to Puerto Rico.

Still, the win against Senegal is huge because it will surely boost their morale and confidence when they take on the teams in the upcoming Asian Games.
