There you were watching your favorite video in Megavideo when suddenly it stopped and a message saying “You have watched 72 minutes of video today.” appeared on your screen. How did you feel? I love watching videos in Megavideo and when that happens to me, I get very, very annoyed and irritated specially when it stops near the end of the video.

You have watched 72 minutes of video today.

I understand the need of Megavideo’s owners to make money from their service since running a Free Video Hosting and Sharing site cost lots and lots of money but is the 72 minute limit necessary specially when YouTube and other popular free video hosting and sharing sites don’t impose this kind of limit with their service? I guess the owners of Megavideo are not getting enough income from their advertisers and sponsors that’s why they have this limit to force viewers to become premium members.

When Megavideo’s 72 minute limit is reached, it doesn’t mean that you won’t be able to continue watching anymore. The 72 minute limit message will also tell you to wait at least an hour or less before you can continue watching. If you can wait at least an hour then it will not be a big problem for you but, unfortunately, most internet users don’t like to wait and that is the problem. LOL!

For those who can’t wait or for those who don’t want to wait, there are ways of working around Megavideo’s 72 minute limit but I will not discuss all of them here because most of them don’t or no longer work. I’ve tried them and found that only one of them works and it also has not failed me yet.

The best way in breaking the 72 minutes Megavideo barrier is by using proxy servers and I’m not talking about website proxies like HideMyAss.com and others. Website proxies don’t work. I’m talking about real proxy servers with their IP and Port numbers. You set these up in your browser’s Network Connections.

Now, manually changing your connection’s proxy server settings every time you reach Megavideo’s 72 minute limit can be tedious but if you are a Firefox browser user then you can use a free Firefox plugin that will help you manage your connection’s proxy server settings for you. This particular free Firefox plugin is non other than FoxyProxy. Download it, install it and add all your proxy server settings into it. With FoxyProxy, you will be able to switch from one proxy server setting to another proxy server setting easily every time you reach Megavideo’s 72 minute limit.

Confused yet? LOL! Below is a simple guide to help you:

  1. Download and install FoxyProxy, a free Firefox plugin that can be used to manage your proxy server settings
  2. Search for “free proxy servers” in Google
  3. Simply add the IP number and Port number of the proxy servers you’d like to use in FoxyProxy
  4. Watch videos in Megavideo with FoxyProxy disabled
  5. When you reach the 72 minute limit, switch to a different proxy server using FoxyProxy
  6. Repeat every time the 72 minute limit warning comes up
  7. Enjoy your Megavideo viewing

Of course, many proxy servers can be slow and unreliable but there are hundreds out there that are fast and reliable. Finding those will take some trial and errors but when you do, you’ll be watching Megavideo videos as if you were a Megavideo Premium member.

To help you in your search for good proxy servers to use, below are some sites that you can use to get proxy servers:

I hope that the sites I have listed above can help you in finding good, fast and reliable proxy servers. If you need to find more sites that list proxy servers then all you have to do is search for them. Remember, search engines are our friends not food. LOL!
